Two of Northeastern High School’s standout athletes have recently signed Division I letters of intent.
Bobcats basketball guard Khalid Nwandu finalized his commitment to Mount St. Mary’s — the school he verbally pledged to in June. Meanwhile, senior diver Rebecca Gross signed her letter of intent to join Rutgers University next fall.
Both will honored at a signing ceremony at the school Wednesday at noon.
Nwandu, a 6-foot-3 point guard, was a second-team YAIAA Division I/II all-star pick last season, when he averaged 16.7 points and helped lead the Bobcats to the state playoffs for a second consecutive season. At the Mount, he’ll team up with former William Penn star Kelvin Parker, who is coming off a stellar freshman season.
Gross was the YAIAA diving champion last year and placed second in the District 3 Class AA meet. She went to earn a sixth-place finish in states.
